Patients with zero diagnostic delay are responsible for the vertical line at the beginning of the survival function. The structural break in the curve at 11 years can be explained by the availability of electronic records; patients being diagnosed with bipolar disorder early 2015 might have a delay of 11 years as maximum, while patients being diagnosed with bipolar disorder late 2016 might have a delay of 13 years as a maximum
